Description of service
I have paid $975.00 for my daughter’s sixth grade private elementary schooling. This cost includes the tuition, supplies such as notebooks, pencils, index cards for note taking, books and private tutoring sessions in a class that never exceeds eight students. There are no taxes in the state that we live in, so the price does not include taxes that may be charged in other states.
Each student is placed in an appropriate skill level and their curriculum is based on their placement test and knowledge of the basic core subjects. For instance, a sixth grader may place at sixth grade level for English and Grammar and score at a fourth grade level for Mathematics. The curriculum is then tailored to bring the student up to grade six in the Mathematics area. The same student may score above their sixth grade level in Science, perhaps scoring an eighth grade level skill set in Science. The student would be placed in the eighth grade level then for the Science subjects.
The cost covers all the placement testing and materials needed for each subject, offering the student engaging and skill appropriate studies no matter where they place in each subject. The small class sizes guarantee the individual attention required to grasp concepts and excel in their studies.
Review of Service
The quality of service my daughter and I have received from her private school is phenomenal. The instructor works with each student individually and offers engaging methods of instruction to assist the students in understanding the material being presented. The instructor is a very patient and warm person who has created a wonderful environment for the students to learn in.
I have been very satisfied with quality of the curriculum used, which is a nationally accredited program that provides a high school diploma upon completion of the program. Since each student is placed based upon their knowledge and skill set of each individual core subject, they are allowed to move at their own pace, rather than being held back by slower students who do not grasp concepts.
The instructor offers free group tutoring sessions to students who need extra help in any subject and encourages them to ask questions. Students are rewarded with merit dollars when they complete their weekly studies and homework. Merit dollars can be spent on items in the school store, and offer a unique motivator for students to complete their work.
In short, I couldn’t be more pleased with my daughter’s private school education. She receives better instruction, curriculum and is around an instructor who teaches with patience and understanding. A wonderful value!!
Tips
I would advise anyone who seeks a service like this to research the different schools available and decide if a Christian or Non-Christian private education is what they are looking for. Use the Internet to research what type of curriculum is being used and whether the student will be placed in an age based grade level for each subject or a skill/knowledge for each subject.
Discuss with the school what the total cost will be for the full academic year. This cost should include everything needed for the student to excel in the program, and extra curricular events such as field trips, sports, etc. Verify that these cost is something that you can afford and build a budget to assure that the costs are met.
Most importantly, listen to your instinct and you child! If something doesn’t feel right or your child is still not adapting to the school after a week or so, look elsewhere. Never put your child in an environment you don’t feel comfortable with.
I wish I had known of the existence of small private schools before my daughter was already in the sixth grade. The quality of education she has received has exceeded satisfactory and she enjoys the challenge and individual attention given by the instructor.
