I paid a professional writer to write my husband and my wedding announcement to be published in the local newspaper.

Our local newspaper only publishes a small amount of the wedding announcements sent in. I really wanted ours to appear so I hired a professional writer to type the copy up for us. I wanted her to make it interesting and unique. The writer I hired has experience writing all kinds of announcements from birth to graduation announcements. She charged $50.00. I was able to approve the copy she wrote. There were a few things I wasn't pleased about and she did not charge me to make some minor editing changes. In the end the announcement was not chosen to be printed in the paper but it was available online and we did receive a few compliments on how good it sounded.

If you can get a good deal like this I'd say it's definitely worth the cost. When we tried to write our own announcement we found we had a lot of trouble. Part of the problem is that you are so close to the situation it's hard to step back and see what facts and information a 3rd party would find interesting.
