Description of service
I took a 'fast track' class to learn conversational Spanish before my trip to Mexico. It was 5 2 hour classes that met once a week for 5 weeks. The total cost of the program was $500. That included all materials, such as workbook and textbook. There was an option to buy additional materials like audio tapes and CD's but I did not purchase any of these products. We learned basic phrases.
Review of Service
It was a great class. There were about 15 people in the class. Most of the class was taught in a sort of 'buddy system' type of way where we paired up and then talked to our 'buddy' in Spanish. There was a good mix of ages which I thought was nice - there were even some kids there. There was one teacher and then she also had an assistant. Her assistant walked around as we were talking to one another and would gently correct us. I felt there was a great balance of instruction and actually 'hands on' practice.
Tips
Make sure you go somewhere with small class sizes. You learn the most when you are actually talking and it's hard to get much time to do that with larger classes. Also check to see if there will be extra costs for materials before you sign up.
