Description of service
Spring tune Up. I asked for a complete overhaul of the brakes and the gearing system. I had them check all the cables for wear to make sure I can make it though another season. I also wanted to make sure all the little nuts and bolts that were important were tightened. Especially the seat, pedals and handlebar stem. Luckily the tires and tubes were in good shape and did not need to be replaced. There was not any dry rot at all.
Review of Service
I dropped off the bike and was told to call back in 2 days for a pick up. When I arrived to pick it up, it looked as good as new, all the brakes were tight and worked properly, the gears shifted like new and it felt like a new bike. I paid for a complete bike tune up and check, this included lube on all the parts that needed it (mostly the chain) and like a car inspection, a basic once over to make sure nothing drastic had happened from last season or the winter storage. safety and convenience was the key, for me to do this would have taken special tools and hours, versus a drop off and a pick up from someone who knows how to do this.
Tips
Depending on your yearly mileage, a spring tune up will generally last throughout the entire year. Always pay attention to the brakes and tires, they are the most important items. Keep in mind that a lot of bikes shops get busy this time of year and sometimes it may take even a week to get your bike back. Even for a top end bike $100.00 is too much to pay, shop around, call the shops and get prices.
