Description of service
When my laptop crashed, I arranged for a friend to recover my hard drive data. I myself am quite proficient at using a computer, but this was beyond my expertise as it wouldn't even boot with the Windows XP disk.
Review of Service
The person was successful in recovering all my data. The service was performed during a one month period (but actually only took a couple of days). I was very happy with the result, because the person presented me with a DVD containing all my folders and files that I feared were gone forever! The person also expressed a willingness to help me in the future, and to offset some of the cost of the service I gave the person my old laptop since I purchased a new one in the interim. (It would have cost more like $250 if I had not made this arrangement.)
Tips
Always back up your hard drive! Don't do it tomorrow - do it right now. You will thank yourself later. But if you do need recovery services, find somebody you can trust, and be prepared to pay at least $100, because it can often take significant time and resources to successfully recover a crashed hard drive.
