Description of service
After my wife's laptop died out, she had to get her information off her hard drive (she had a manuscript and tons of school work on it), so we brought the computer to a local place that specializes in data recovery and they charged us just under $60 for a hard driver recovery.
Review of Service
Great. Of course she was thrilled to get her stuff back. She had not made back ups of it, assuming a fairly new computer wouldn't just fall apart on her like it did, so she was pretty upset when it happened, and likewise she was very happy when she got all her stuff back. They had it for 2 or 3 days if I remember right. Maybe it was even shorter.
Tips
Depending on what you have on your hard drive, the recovery may or may not be worth the money you spend. She had a year's worth of personal and school documents on hers, so it was vital that she got those things back. But if you don't have something really important, the $60 might not be worth it. But, that said, I think the $60 was fairly reasonable. Oh, the biggest tip of all... BACK UP YOUR WORK! That might just save you the $60 altogether.
