Description of service
I needed to recover multi-format data (photos, music, work documents, programs etc) from an external hard drive that had malfunctioned, and was no longer appearing in windows. It was giving an error that the data had been corrupted. However, it was possible to recover all the data, which was given back to me on multiple DVDs. I also got the hard drive back, reformatted and working again.
Review of Service
The service was pretty fast ( it took three days from sending off the hard drive to receiving the DVDs containing my data and the working hard drive). It was also very effective - I was worried that I would lose all the information on the hard drive, but it was all succsessfully recovered. The only thing is, which I believe is standard, is that I had to pay before they would even look at the drive so there was no guarantee that laying out money would mean I'd get my data back.
Tips
I would make sure you deal with a company that is reputable, someone local is often a good bet, and make it clear what you are paying for. In most cases you will be charged a labor fee befoer they even examine the damage to your data - you are not paying for them to recover the data as such, just to try and recover it.
