Description of service
We pay about $70 a month for our cable with DVR and on demand channels. The DVR accounts for roughly $10 of that $70, the other $60 is just for the cable and on demand channels.
Review of Service
I love being able to record, pause, and rewind. I hate being tied down and feeling almost obligated to watch tv at a certain time just because there is a show on that I would like to watch. The DVR lets me record the show and watch it whenever it is convenient for me. So now the tv works around my schedule instead of the other way around.
The DVR is particularly good for parents or people with hectic work schedules. Parents can watch and record shows ahead of time to see if they are appropriate for children. If the show is appropriate, parents can play it back for the child to watch later. Parents can even fast forward through commercials. Very young children may especially love the playback feature because they often like to watch the same thing over multiple times. So the DVR can be a great way for parents to ensure quality programing and education for their child.
The same goes for on demand channels. There are on demand channels for young children, older children, teens, and adults. The on demand channels are commercial-free, and kids can watch the shows multiple times.
Tips
When looking for cable or DVR services, look for package deals. Sometimes you can save money by buying multiple features you want in a package rather than separately. Ask about any hidden or installation fees too. Find out if you get penalized for canceling services early. Some companies may be willing to give you a free trial.
