Car Insurance can be very expensive. With every company the quotes and prices can be drastically different. Its best to call as many insurance companies as possible. One may tell you its $1200 per year and the next one might give you a quote of $1400 per year. In Michigan the insurance rates may be quite a bit different than in other States. Michigan's Insurance rates are higher. For basic coverage for a 1996 Ford Thunderbird I am paying $1200 per year, $100 per month, which is very high, although I did shop around that is the basic rate I came across each time.
Review of Service
Insurance rates are high in general, I do think insurance should be optional and not mandatory like it is in some states. The cost of insurance is not affordable to some people. I could not recommend using any insurance companies that I have called, because in my opinion, they ate all too high.
Tips
I would recommend first of all, if you have a choice, that before you buy a car, that you shop around for insurance prices for each of the cars that you are considering buying. The cost of insurance may surprise you, and the cost might help you in deciding which car you choose to buy.
