Description of service
I had one couch removed from a vacation condo I've got in Ogunquit, ME. The person who removed it does this as a small side business. I paid him 60 dollars. He told me that 10 dollars of that was a fee charged at the local transfer station for the couch, and the other 50 for his time.
Review of Service
The service was good. Basically, he was a young guy in a pickup truck that came by to take my couch away. He didn't mess up my condo, arrived on time... I'm glad I went with a small contractor like him. I've seen some larger junk removal companies in the yellow pages before, but I'm not sure if they can beat 60 dollars on a job as small as mine. This guy I found in an online classifieds site that had some local services listings. How can you beat 60 dollars for any kind of service where somebody comes to your home? This is one of the things that I love about Maine. Chances are that whatever it is you need done, there's probably a guy in town with a truck that will do it for 50 to 100 dollars!
Tips
Your best bet for finding someone might be to ask around in town if you live in a rural place like Maine. Ask at the hardware store, ask at the local garage, baitshop, etc. If that doesn't work, try looking at an online classifieds. You might not feel comfortable hiring an individual you found on the classifieds, so I guess you could always use one of the larger junk removal services from the yellow pages or something.
