Description of service

A custom made sign for a vanity license plate, using aluminum sign face with pressure sensitive vinyl lettering.

In areas where a front license plate is not mandatory, many people opt for vanity plates or custom, decorative plates. They can be expensive, but $15 is not a bad price, considering that ready made options cost about $10.

Review of Service

A friend of mine bought her first new vehicle ever. She was very excited about the vehicle, and it was even her favorite color. I had a custom license plate made for her as a birthday gift.

The shop owner was very nice and described the materials to be used in detail. He already had license plate blanks and gave me one with the installation holes already drilled, for convenience.

Tips

Signs come in a huge range of sizes, styles, materials, colors, etc. It's a good idea to call around and compare prices. Ask about the materials used. Aluminum is a good choice because it won't rust like metal or decay like wood, especially if your sign is going to be used outside. Plexiglas and similar materials work well also.

Ask about the lettering too. Pressure sensitive vinyl lettering comes in a variety of types. Make sure the kind you're getting is weather resistant and find out how long it should last.

Vinyl lettering should not come off on its own but is fairly simple to peel off if necessary.

You can also inquire about hand painted signs. If you need several signs, consider having them screen printed with weather resistant paint.
