Description of service
In November of 2007, I decided to ask my dentist about cosmetic dental veneers. He told me all about the procedure and said he could do them for me. My decision was purely based on aesthetics as my natural teeth were in great shape; they were straight, white and did not need any work done. I decided to go with the dental veneers on my top front teeth, which involved filing down my natural teeth to a much smaller size and cementing veneers over my natural teeth. The $5500.00 was for the cost of the veneers only, as the dentist had his own fees for his services, which were separate. There were no gratuities involved with having this procedure done.
Review of Service
I feel the quality of the service I received was poor. Well, let me clarify that; the dentist was a great dentist and was very gentle and patient. The veneers, however, were very poor quality, they look great but were not very durable. Shortly after having the veneers put on (six months later) two of the veneers cracked and came off, which was very distressing, since they were on my front teeth. I feel that this service was very overpriced for the end result I received.
Tips
If you are considering having dental veeners done, I would recommend only having them done if your natural teeth are in really poor condition. If you have crooked, broken, missing or just plain ugly teeth, you should consult with a dentist about veneers. Check and see if you are a good candidate for veneers before making any decisions. I grind my teeth in my sleep and when stressed and did not even realize it until I had the veneers done. Had I known this before hand, I would not have had the veneers done. Since my natural teeth were filed down so much, there is no turning back for me. I am stuck with these veneers for life and will have to have them replaced as they come off, which is very expensive. I wish I had left well enough alone!
