Description of service
The charge for installation of the satellite television service was 49.99, but was waived with a 24 months contract, which I did not pay for. I wanted to be able to cancel the service if I did not like it, and the cost to cancel the service was $240.00. They said they would deduct ten dollars for each month I had the service, so if I canceled the satellite service after 6 months, the cost of canceling the service at that time would only be $180.00. Because a better television service became available to us from our phone company after 10 months, I felt we made a good decision. I don't mind signing up for a long term contract for something I have used before, such as a cell phone plan, but, as I had never had satellite television service before, nor had anyone in my family, I did not want to be stuck into a contract if we didn't like it. However, I felt that the 49.99 fee for the installation of the satellite television installation was more than reasonable, as they were at my home for over four hours hooking up all 4 of our televisions, which came to only about $10.00 per hour.
Review of Service
The service was absolutely fantastic! They came out when they said they would and he was very polite and appeared to know what he was doing. He set up the satellite dish, which took awhile - it is best in this area if it faces southwest, and I had some trees in the way, so he had to put it on the top of my roof to get the best reception. Then he came in the house and set up the four television sets to the receivers - and they were both DVRs. He then gave me the remote controls for all of the television sets and showed us all how to use them.
Tips
I would recommend this product, and was more than willing to pay the installation fee, as I don't feel it was really a lot of money, considering the time the installer put in and the fact that my husband would obviously be unable to do this himself. The installer appeared to be highly trained, and in fact, told me he had to undergo eight weeks of training to do this for the company I chose, even though he had done this for another company.
