the Price of Installation for Satellite Cable TV

I decided to switch from traditional cable to satellite service. After comparing the companies available to me, i settled on the one that had the best reviews and best offer. I had to schedule a installation date (although promised me to be within 72 hours actually occured 5 days later. The cost of installation of (1) Satellite Antenna and (2) receiver boxes was $199.00. It took the Installer 1 hour to do the work.

The process of signing up for the service and scheduling the install was very aggrevating. The company was quick to sign you up, but the lack of communication between sales and installation departments caused numerous delays in getting the work done.

The Installer was GREAT. He was very personable, very efficient at his work and had a great deal of patience in showing us how to use the new system. My experience with him out wieghed my frustration with the sales dept.

Here are a few tips for surviving this process

1. Check out all the deals available, both in print and on the internet (they vary, so make sure you are getting the best deal)

2. Get the deal and the installation infomation in writing. Best is to get confirmation email if you are not dealing with a local company

3. Try to find a local company to work with. After going though this process I found a local company that I could have gone through and would have gotten the same deal, but I would have had a real person to work with.

4. You are signing a 2 year agreement with most of these companies, so make sure it is what you want.
