Description of service
I needed a car stereo repair so I went to a local shop to help me out. The price I paid was one hundred dollars which included a replacement part. The tech people at the shop were nice at first. They told me it would take about an hour to fix the stereo and complete all the wiring inside my car that was required. The shop was near a restaurant so I went to eat while they fixed the stereo since I couldn't go anywhere because they said they needed my car as well. After dinner I went back, about an hour later, and they were no where near done with my car. They had fixed the stereo but were having difficulties with the wiring. I have a foreign car, a Mitsubishi, and they said the wiring was not like most cars. It took them well over three hours to reinstall the radio in my car. Even after they said they were finished I realized I couldn't use the buttons on my steering wheel to control sound and channel options. They said it was because of the way they had to rewire the stereo. It was very disappointing and I would not recommend going to a shop that doesn't specialize in stereo repair. I would take it back to the manufacturer if I could do it again.
Review of Service
The repair men were very nice and apologized for the inconvenience that had caused. However, they were very inconsiderate of the language and music that they were playing in the shop that I had to sit in because they were taking much longer then expected to fix my stereo. The employees were answering cell phones and constantly walking in and out of the shop. They acted like they had all day to fix my stereo and did not care that I had other places to go. After they said they fixed my radio I quickly realized they did not. I told them about the steering wheel buttons not working and they said it was due to the new wires they had to put in. I told them that did not make sense and they said it was because of the new replacement piece that had to put in to fix the radio. Since I drove a foreign car they did not have the proper replacement piece and fixed a replacement piece for another brand of car to fit my car. Complaining did not work and they said I had agreed, when I signed for them to fix the car, that mishaps could occur. Never trust installation men that do not work at a well qualified shop.
Tips
My advice to someone who is looking to get their car stereo fixed would be to shop around for the place with the best reviews. Customer service is important when their shop is doing maintenance on your car. By looking at reviews you can decide for yourself if you want to choose a place based on good customer satisfaction. This will allow you to see if previous customers were satisfied with the shops work or not. Also, look at the shop and compare the way it is run to other shops. You shouldn't want to pick a shop like I did. I went to the first one and had them fix my stereo. I should have looked around for a shop that was professional. Lastly, it is important for you to read everything that you sign. Look at the wording carefully because I had no idea the document I signed would not let me get my car fixed to my satisfaction. You should question the fine print or funny wordings because most of the time its something important. They said it was fixed the best they could. I did not argue so I left because I am not a confrontation person but I will know better next time.
