the Cost of Wedding DJs

We hired a local DJ to provide music for our wedding reception and the cost for 4 hours of his time was $400. He provided all of his own equipment, including speakers that he placed around the room to provide a better sound than the speakers available at the facility we rented. He was there to set up about 1/2 hour before the reception, then he provided three hours of music, and took another 1/2 hour to shut down and pack up. He also spent about 45 minutes with us a few weeks before the wedding day to discuss what we wanted him to do and the type of music we preferred, and to pick out the songs for the first dances and the last dance.

We loved the DJ and he did a fantastic job for us. Everyone who attended really liked his sense of humor and personality that he brought to the event. Some DJs just play the music and don't get involved in the activities, but our DJ had everyone dancing to songs like the Macarena and he made the party so much fun. We were completely satisfied with his work and the price was very reasonable for the service. He never took a break and was professional and respectful of the guests and the wedding party, so we have told our friends about him as well.

The personality of the DJ is just as important as the number of songs that he has available on his playlist, so be sure to meet with him in person prior to signing the contract and spend some time discussing your expectations and the tentative schedule for the day and the reception.
