Description of service
We paid 120.00 dollars a month to have a hospice care person come in to sit with our mother for 2 hours a week. The worker was certified by the local hospital for hospice care and an ordained Minister of a non-denominational church. She sat with Mom and visited with her. Sometimes she just read from the Bible or another book. We could go out while she was there, so we could get a break for a few hours.
Review of Service
The service was excellent. Our hospice worker was so kind and loving. You could tell she really cared about our mom and she showed it. She knew just what to say to mom, and to us as well, she had so much compassion for our situation. I think she must have had a lot of experience with hospice care. She never tried to make us feel good, she just gave us support for the way we were really feeling. Mom really liked her, they talked very well together. We won't forget her and her kindness.
Tips
Find out how well trained the person is before your hire them. Our local hospital had a list of people who had been through their training program. Make sure the person who needs care wants help before you try to match them with someone. Ask the worker what they believe about life, death and religion so you can find someone who shares the same ideas about transition/death that you and your family have.
