Description of service
Hospice supportive care is when a person needs a little help with daily duties that they can not do on their own. I have it for my 94 year old aunt with Alzheimers. She gets two full showers a week and bed sheets changed by a well trained home health aid. The service offers many chores, it all depends on what your needs are. You may want them for cooking a meal or a bit of cleaning, even to shop or just sit with them. There is also a nurse practictioner that will come in if they are called.
Review of Service
The qualily of the service is excellent and I mean excellent. They are like a good friend or family in just a short time. They are always on time and give the kindest care. I like the fact that usually you have the same person assigned and they know what the patient can do and not do. The home health aid will also let the nurse know if they see something that the patient might need to have looked at.
Tips
You may have to do a little calling around for yourself. You usually need your doctor to refer you, then they come out to evaluate the patient. I had it for my dad for almost 3 years and his doctors office told me they wouldn't take him on, well when they took one look at my dad with a rare palsy disorder they took him right away. Now I have supportive care for my aunt and it is well worth it and not hard your your purse.
