Description of service
I recently discovered that my contact prescription was out of date; apparently a new law requires that prescriptions be updated annually. So I had to make an appointment with a local optometrist to have my vision checked and obtain a new prescription for and order contact lenses and glasses.
Review of Service
I was very happy to discover that an appointment was available within 48 hours of my inital phone call. Upon entering the clinic, I received a warm greeting and was quickly escorted into the examination room. The optometrist was friendly and personable and the through examination was quick and painless. At previous optometry visits I have had to endure blasts of air into my eyes and the excruciating revulsion of having my eyelids turned inside out. Thankfully, this clinic did not do any of these. After the exam I was escorted out front and was provided with helpful service for ordering new contacts and glasses, including some great sale prices! My orders were available for pick up in less than 3 days, to my great surprise. Less than a week later I lost my new glasses during a night out on the town. I called my optometrist and relayed what had happened. He said that since my glasses had been on sale originally, to buy a replacement I would have to pay full price, $150 more than what I had originally paid. However, he reassured me that he would try to find an alternative. Less than an hour later, I received a phone call that I would only have to pay a $60 replacement fee; even though that replacement policy was no longer in effect, he had decided to let it slide due to my circumstances.
Tips
Find out what is included in the exam beforehand and discuss any concerns you may have. Do some research the average price of contacts online, such as 1800contacts.com and visiondirect.com, so you can compare the prices your optometrist offers. Also ask about replacement and refund policies, just in case!
