Description of service
In little Klamath Falls, you have two funeral directors. Unfortunately, my family has had to use them both over the last several years. They both are great at the job they do and try to make it easy for the families who have lost their loved ones.
You go in to the funeral home and have to pick a coffin or a urn. Depending on the service you want for your loved one it can be cheap or expensive. My Grandfather's funeral for example, my family made the decision to have a viewing and then cremation of him. That cost my Grandmother quite a bit extra but she wanted to make sure that all the Grandchildren got to see their Grandfather one last time.
After you decide on the coffin or urn you then get to decide what service you want to have. Most of the funerals I have been to have been in a church. You have to pick out flowers for the alter. You have to plan what kind of program you want. Some have pictures, some have words, or you can put your loved ones picture on them.
You then have to say a few words to who is officiating the funeral. What else can you say at that time but you loved them and remember a story here and there? You should just speak from your heart at the service.
Then when you are finally done, you really aren't. There are DVD's that can be made. You may buy a thumbprint of your loved one who's passed away. We got my Grandfather's thumbprint on a pendant for my Grandmother because they were married over 55 years.
Review of Service
Both funeral homes were wonderful. They made us as comfortable as they could. The directors explained each step in detail and that helped out so very much. We couldn't have done a great job without them. They were open to our suggestions and that helped us out a lot.
Tips
I recommend doing something special at funerals. Whether it's a special DVD or a balloon releasing, make it special. Let the director's help you. This is their business and most know what they are talking about. Receptions are always a nice way to end the horrible day. Somehow friends and family make days like this a little more bearable.
