the Price of Landscape Design

We moved into a house recently and the landscape part of it wasn't looking too great. We have about half an acre fenced in with a privacy fence and then about half an acre in the front yard. I wanted to make it look a little nicer so we decided to get some landscaping done. I just wanted some flowers in the front with mulch and stone edging around it and the same done around three trees in the front yard. I also wanted the grass a little greener.

We knew of a company that does landscaping in our area and everyone is always gushing about how good of work that he does so we asked him to give us an estimate. With labor and materials it was around 400 dollars. When he was done you wouldn't even know it was the same yard. I'm not sure what he did to the grass but it is a beatiful shade of green. My flowers are gorgeous and some of my new neighbors have even commented on the yard. He comes by every week to mow the grass and to weed out the flower beds for $75 (we have an acre). I'm really pleased with the results.

If you don't have a green thumb (gardening can be great stress relief) then I would suggest hiring someone to do it for you. If you can't afford a lot put an ad in the paper for a high school student who is taking horticulture classes. They would get some experience and some cash and in return you would have a beautiful yard. If you are planning on spending big bucks I would ask to see pictures of their prior work and/or references.
