the Price of Landscape Design

I paid a landscape designer to draw up a design for my back yard. Her design fee was $450 and she also charged me $30.00 to give me detailed instructions and a very detailed list of everything I would need to buy to complete the project.

This was well worth the money. I knew absolutely nothing about landscaping and was at a total loss. I easily could have gotten someone to come in and tell me what to do initially but she provided me with a long term plan. I have a 'yard calendar' that tells me everything that needs to be done each month from pruning to planting bulbs.

I met with around 4 other people before I chose the woman I went with. I think this is important because honestly if I'd only met with the first person I met with I would have hired her. She was fine and I'm sure the project would have been okay but once I finally met with the woman I ended up hiring I knew right away she was the right one and I'm glad I held out for her. Be sure that you get everything in writing as to what the landscapers fee is and what exactly that includes. Some designers try to charge a ridiculous amount of money for copies of their plans. These should be included in your price.
