Description of service
We aquired landscaping services to install mulch to our flower beds and add a ground cover to our hillside. This did not include the cost of edging the beds, which we had already done. A total of five yards of mulch and fourteen ground cover plants. This cost included the delivery fees as well.
Review of Service
Our experience was absolutley wonderful. The landscaper was prompt with his initial appointment, in which he gave a free estimate for the services we wanted done. He also reccommended other services such as weeding, insect and disease spray, transplanting, etc., even a full landscape design if we wanted it. It took about 3 days for the job to commence but they were done in the same day that they started. The mulch we chose was called "Chocolate Chip Brown" double shredded hardwood mulch, which was a wonderful, rich colored mulch that really made the shrubs, plants and flowers stand out. This particular mulch will hold it's color a lot longer than the traditional mulch. The landscaper doing the work was the same as the one that gave us our free estimate. We inquired and learned that he was not only the owner but the operator of the business as well. As we walked around the yard he knew every plant that was already in my garden, even the cute little shrub my sister gave me- I still can't remember the name. If I pointed and asked him a question he immediatley new the name - botanical and common name - and how to solve the problem, without being pushy for further sales. The ground cover that he planted was perfect for the hillside that always seems to get washed away. It is a no maintenance ground cover - after the initial watering schedule - perfect for our busy schedules. We were very impressed with the entire experience and will definatley use this service again.
Tips
The best advice I can give after this experience is to look for a small company when it comes to landscaping. I dealt with one person the entire time. He had one helper but he worked along side and was there to answer any questions that I had without making me feel like I was bothering him. I have not had this same experience with larger landscape companies, where you are just a number and never talk to the same person twice - not to mention the fifteen people in your yard leaving you to wonder if they are having a party at your house and forgot to invite you!
Another tip is to make sure that your landscaper is knowledged. If he knows more about your yard than you do - he is probably your guy. And as with any business make sure he is liscenced! Happy Landscaping!
