Description of service
I hired a tow truck driver to take my car from my home to an auto repair shop. Now the cost of a tow truck service can vary drastically depending on the company, the distance, and the type of tow. The tow driver I hired was self employed and he owned his own tow truck, this I believe made the tow a bit cheaper. He didn't charge me per mile, he basically gave me a flat rate after I told him which auto repair shop I was going to, which was only about 2 miles away from my house. I was okay with allowing the tow truck to pull my car dragging my back wheels. if I had requested the tow driver to lift my entire car onto his tow truck, this would have cost me $80.00
Review of Service
The tow driver was able to accept a credit card as well as cash. he was very careful not to bump or scratch my car and even allowed me and my child to ride in his tow truck.
After completing the tow, he gave me a receipt to submit to my auto insurance to reimburse me for the tow. The tow truck driver gave me a business card, along with a keychain advertising his company.
His rates were so low, that I used his servcies on a regular basis, for jump starting my car, and unlocking my car doors.
Tips
Towing service can be very expensive, I recommend to everyone to always use a road side assistance program, but if your willing to go through your phone book and do some price shopping, you might get lucky, and get a tow for under 50 bucks like I did.
