Description of service
I paid to be towed out of a snowbank and put back on the road after driving about 20 feet into deep snow. The service that I paid for included the labor of getting my car out, and the fuel and time spent getting to where I was.
Review of Service
It was the first day of November, and I was driving to class. My car wasn't equipped with studded tires yet, so the roads were a little slippery. Little did I know, they would give me a big story to tell once I got to school! The icy conditions proved to be too much for my driving skills and I was pulled off the road at about 35 miles per hour. In snow that was about 8 inches deep, I was hopelessly stuck about 20 feet from the edge of the road. I called a tower that had his garage about one mile down the road.
The towing man got there and knew just what to do. He hooked the cable under the strongest part of my car's body and then helped me power my way back onto the road. I then followed him back to the garage, where he told me that I could just pay later. Later that day, after visiting the bank, I showed up and paid off my debts.
Tips
If you need to be towed, ask for a rate before they come, so you know how much you could be paying to get unstuck. Perhaps a high fee may encourage one to try a little harder in moving their vehicle. Also, you may want to talk down the price of the tow, especially if you're just off the road and need to get back on. There's no way a service that just pulls a car 20 feet back onto the road is worth $50.
