Description of service
My husband spent 45 days in an in-house treatment facility for drug abuse. He also went to weekly meetings at the facility for the 3 months following his release.
Review of Service
My husband was injured a few years ago. He was prescribed heavy duty main medications and eventually became addicted to them. After over a year of trying to kick the habit himself, he was fired from his job for using while working. This was the kick in the pants he needed and he checked himself into a 45 day treatment facility.
His experience was bittersweet. Because his addiction was to pain medication, they were unable to give him any drugs to help with the withdrawal. After the first week, things started looking up but that first week was hell. There was a lot of group therapy that he really got a lot out of.
The only complaint we really had with the facility was that they housed all types of drug addicts. My husband, while an addict, was not quite to the caliber of some of the crack and meth addicts that were there wit him.
Once he completed treatment successfully, he was allowed to go back and attend the group therapy meetings free of charge. He did this for a few months and has been clean ever since.
Tips
This is not the type of thing to skimp on. If you go to a sub-par facility you will likely relapse and end up having to go through the whole withdrawal again, and pay for another round of rehab.
