My place of employment offered a complimentary consultation for retirement planning. This include an hour session with a representative from a company specializing in retirement planning. If I wanted to continue to receive advice or attain additional services, I would then have to pay for it.

I was very happy with the advice that I received from the consultant. It was nice that my work offered this complementary service. The consultant told me exactly what I needed to do to start planning for my retirement. He went over how to set up a good budget, and how to pay down my debt, while putting money into a savings account. He advised trying to get all of this in order before I start planning for retirement, because the interest rate on my credit cards would be higher than any return I would get on investments. He also showed me different investment options, from moderate to aggresive. I found the session very helpful and decided to continue to use his services.
