Description of service
I got a pedicure at a brand-new very low-budget nail salon. They didn't have spa chairs, so they sucked my feet in a Tupperware kind of tub, took off my nail polish, massaged my feet, cut and filed my nails, and applied new polish.
The $18 was for a pedicure before tip.
Review of Service
Like I said, the salon was brand-new and they obviously didn't have much money yet. I was their only customer and they seemed way too excited to have me. Everything was really low-budget: they had a tub that they filled with hot water from the sink instead of spa chairs, Kleenex instead of foam toe separators, and a little electric fan instead of the high-tech UV nail dryers.
Other than the lack of equipment and the two other manicurists sitting around staring at the one who had a customer, the service was good. She did a good massage, applied the polish nicely, and was all around pleasant.
I thought it should have cost less than salons which do have spa chairs and all that, but I guess I sort of felt sorry for them because they obviously needed a break in the beginning.
Tips
Check to see what kind of equipment the salon has before committing to a pedicure. Also decide if you want to be the only person in the salon and having all the attention directed on you or if you want to go to a salon that is busier with more clients!
