Description of service
I had my medium length, straight hair permed into what was supposed to be loose curls at a local hair salon.
Review of Service
I used this particular hair salon many times in the past for hair cuts, styling, and the occasional coloring with highlights. I was fairly happy with most of the stylists there. That day, the one I was scheduled to get my perm done by had cut my children's hair before. I had been happy with her work then. Unfortunately, her skill at hair cutting didn't carry over into perms. I have very fine hair. It's texture is more like corn silk than human hair. I had been coloring it off and on for several years, something that she knew before hand. I asked if there would be any problems with the perm because of it. She assured me there wouldn't be. Nearly two hours later, I was left with burned hair and a perm that fell flat on the back of my head. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy at all. If I had been told ahead of time that there might have been problems with the perm because of my hair type and coloring habits, I would have just resigned myself to curling it instead.
Tips
Be absolutely certain you are using a hair stylist you can trust. Just because a stylist is good in one area, it doesn't mean they are good in others. Get references before getting your hair processed. A perm can damage your hair for a long time if it's done improperly.
