Description of service
The service was the rental of a local hall for 8 hours for my cousin's wedding. I helped closely with planning. It was a rather "upscale" facility. The $1,300 was total rental fee for the hall, but did not include any extras. We had to do bar arrangements through them, which were very expensive, and in addition to the $1,300 rental fee. There was also security deposits, but those were refundable, and did get refunded, so I did not include them in the $1,300 figure. The hall has a capacity of 250 guests.
Review of Service
The facility was very nice, and it worked out for a magnificent wedding. However, it was also very expensive, and bride and groom both acknowledge after the fact that just as nice of a wedding could have been pulled off at a much cheaper rate. We had done some research into local community-type halls before hand that seemed to charge rates of about $50 an hour. $50 an hour for our 8 hours would have been $400 instead of $1,300, thus saving a ton of money. The bride was skeptical of this before hand, but acknowledged that, if she could do it all over again, she would have saved the money.
Tips
My tip would be to go the economical route, because weddings start adding up like crazy, and you will regret it afterwards if you spend too much. You can still make a cheap hall into a magnificent wedding.
