Description of service
I have a premium package with local channels. I do not subscribe to the HD service as I do not watch much sports. There is an on-screen TV guide, the ability to set reminders to automatically tune to shows that you wish to watch later in the day or week. The descriptions of the show that appears in the on-screen guide and again when you tune to a show give just enough detail and way more information than any newspaper printed guide I've ever seen.
Review of Service
I have had this service for four years and absolutely love it. Each year the service does its own survey, essentially asking "how are we doing" and each time I'm asked all I can say is "don't change a thing." The only downside is that in severe weather you can lose your service for a while. These outages usually don't last long and are not annoying enough to get me to switch to cable. Locally, to get comparable cable service I would be paying roughly twice what satellite is costing me.
Tips
I purchased my equipment through a local big box chain and arranged through them for installation. It was extremely smooth and I was very happy with the service. The first year or so I did not subscribe to local channels -- that was a mistake. I also had the opportunity to add up to four boxes, I only did one at the time. I definitely should have done at least one more.
