Description of service
The actual cost of the cab was about $10 to go about 15 city blocks in the afternoon rush hour(about 5:30pm). I gave the driver a $2 gratuity.
Review of Service
The driver was very friendly and chatted with my friends and I for the entire trip. The cab itself was fairly clean, especially considering that it was during the winter.
The driver's driving habits were obviously fairly aggressive, but we were never in danger and he was in control of the cab the entire time. There was only one near-miss, but it definitely wasn't his fault.
Tips
The best way to get the most out of your cab fare is to share the cab with other people. It's not going to cost any more than if you're by yourself, so you may as well split the cost
Have some idea of where you're going. I can't stress this enough. Cab driver's fares are based on how long you're idling for and how far you get driven, so if they drive around in circles, or or take a really indirect route, then you end up owing a fortune. Have a map of the city you're in and follow along on in while you're riding. The best thing to do would be to pick your own route and have the driver take that.
There are certain surcharges if you're driving at high-priority times, like rush hour or after dark. Get to know when these are so you don't get a surprise.
