the Cost of Day Laborers and Temporary Workers

We paid 1 worker to come do some clean up on our yard. We paid $80 for the day. It took him approximately 6 hours to complete.

We moved into a new house with a yard that had not been kept up while the house was on the market. We don't mind doing yardwork but are better at maintaining than cleaning it up. He came in and mowed the lawn, pulled weeds, cut back the shrubs and bushes, etc. He did a great job. He brought his own truck with all of his supplies on it. He was very polite and worked steadily and quickly. We had a few specific things we wanted him to pay special attention. He did not hesitate to agree and did an excellent job of following our requested specifications. He finished the project before he said he would. He also gave us some advice for maintaining the yard and recommended some products to do so.

I've found it usually works better to pay per project rather than by hour. They tend to finish more quickly. If there are specific parts of the yard that are most important to you, let your worker know. They will probably be happy to focus on them.
