Description of service
I purchased 6 painting lessons in a package for 180.00. The lessons were once a week, on a Saturday afternoon and lasted two hours. They were at the home of an artist, in the studio. I was one of 3 students in the class. We started with basics of sketching to paint. I was given a list of supplies to bring to the first class. We spent one class sketching and then started painting. The instructor have us helpful suggestions as we created one small still life painting.
Review of Service
The service was good. The artist always started an time and did not waste any of our time, we got right to it. I felt like she really knew her subject well and was able to communicate some really complex concepts very well. She had plenty of examples to show us for each stage of the project. She was always very kind and, I think, honest in her assessment of our efforts!
Tips
Expect a long list of supplies that could very well double your cost for the class! I was amazed at how much paint and brushes cost. Find out ahead of time how many students will be in the class, and visit the class room before you sign up. I had considered one other instructor, but a visit to the studio was a real turn off, it was dark, smelly and totally messy! Find out where the instructor went to school and if they have any shows you can view before you sign up. Choose an instructor with a style that you like and would like to emulate.
