Review of Service
This soccer league was a great time for my son. It was fast-paced enough that he spent countless Saturdays running up and down a soccer field, but slow enough that he didn't get frustrated with game-play. There were nine members on the team, but they only played three on three. They didn't keep score in order to keep it fun and encouraging for the kids, and they would play at five minute intervals to be sure all the kids were able to play the same amount of time in each game. The only downside is they weren't really given the rules of gameplay--they were pretty much just set loose onto the field and told to kick the ball into the net. It probably would have been a bit more constructive had they been given just a few more of the rules, but overall it was a fantastic experience for the family.
Tips
Most youth soccer teams require a parent-coach. Don't be afraid to volunteer to coach--you don't have to know everything about the game to coach the little ones, and it can be a fun and rewarding experience for all those involved. Also, dress warmly! Our soccer league started in March, and we had a lot of cold Saturdays spent at the park!
