Description of service
Our town has formed a Youth Soccer league that makes up teams of all the kids that sign up in age groups up to U13. Kids sign up and are put on teams according to geographical area as well as age group and school. They stay with the same coaches year to year whenever possible and that is a great way to progress. The teams meet twice a week at local soccer fields - mostly school grounds. They play one or two games on Saturdays. They play the local area only when they are younger and as they get older, they begin to travel to nearby cities. It is a great way for kids to learn skills and stay active.
Review of Service
The coaching really makes the difference. For the most part, coaches are a parent of one of the kids on the team. Hopefully, they choose to coach because they have some background in soccer and working with kids of the age level. Sometimes this does not work out the best, at that point, it is time for another parent to get involved and help out. Usually though it is a good fit and kids learn a lot of soccer skills and get to use those skills out on the field each week. This is a great way for kids and parents to find out if soccer is the sport for their child. Since soccer is not for everyone, this is one key to the success of the program. They try to keep it fun and recreational, placing the emphasis on sportsmanship and skills, rather than wins and losses.
Tips
If you are into a higher level of skill in soccer, you might find a select team more to your liking. Those cost considerably more, but for the true soccer star, that is where you should spend your time and money.
