Description of service
Last year I decided to give microbraids a try, I was kind of hoping for that Bo Derrick kind of look. My hair was a little past shoulder length, so they were going to charge me $125. This was done at the salon I always go to for hair care, usually only color and a cut. The microbraiding process took over three hours, to complete.
Review of Service
The person that braided my hair did a wonderful job, but I didn't like the way it looked on me when it was finished. It was no fault on their part, I just didn't do any justice to that particular style at all. Not only was the whole process entirely too long, but my head was sore for a week after. That's probably from all of the pulling to make sure it was tight. I left the braids in for right at one week, before finally taking them out. Getting those tiny braids out of my hair was almost as bad as having them put in. They also charge your for removing them too. Which was another $30 including a tip. After removal, my hair looked awful, there were many broken pieces of hair, and tons of split ends. Nothing that a hair cut couldn't fix though.
Tips
When going out on a limb and trying to find a new style that might be right for you, you may want to consider one of those places that can do the picture placement. They take your picture, and put many different hair styles on you until you find one that you like. It may cost you a little more, but I bet it would be well worth it.
