Review of Service
Most of the money spent went towards the the reception. The entire thing went well, but was much more expensive than expected. We started off thinking about spending around $5000. The band, cake and dress were less than we expected, but the church, flowers and photographer were much more. The reception was well worth the money. For the cost, everything was completely taken care of, from decoration of the site to service, to any little things I needed. I didn't like the organist, but that was included in the church rental .
Tips
By far, the best advice I have for someone planning a wedding is to shop around. Don't pick your church for appearance, but get to know the staff first. The bridal show really helped. We were exposed to a lot of different vendors and were able to shop around for what we wanted very quickly. We toured several reception sites and were really confident about our decision. The internet is also a great resource for comparison shopping as well as purchasing things.
