Description of service
We paid roughly $400 for 100 invitations. This included two consult sessions, a mock up and the final product. The final product included the invitations - on which she hand painted a flower - the mailing envelopes, the reply cards and the envelopes for those.
Review of Service
We used an invitation printer who did the business on the side, as opposed to a company. She met with us and showed us a lot of examples of paper, envelopes, colors, font, wording, etc. We came up with a rough idea of what we wanted and she took about a week to do a mock up to make sure it was perfect. We met again and tweaked a few things and then she printed 100 invitations with mailing envelopes, reply cards and envelopes for those. We loved our invitations - they were excellent quality, quickly printed and a good value. She took the time to really capture what we wanted and was very good at guiding us and our ideas to come up with a final product.
Tips
I would definitely recommend going with a small business or someone who does the work on the side as a part time job like we did. You're more likely to get someone who does it for a hobby, rather than to make a living, so you'll get more personal attention. Also, chances are, if they're printing on the side of a full time job, they're probably just starting out and can't afford to quit their job yet. If you get someone just building their business, they're probably going to charge less. Just make sure you get a good mock up before they do all the printing!
