Description of service
My five year old began attending an after school daycare about five months ago. The price is per week and includes transportation from school to the daycare facility. The staff to child ratio is approximately 7 to 1. My son is provided a healthy snack, homework help, and structured and unstructured activies. The daycare closes at 6:00 pm and a fee is charged when a child is not picked up by that time.
Review of Service
This is a great after school daycare. The teachers are primarily college students majoring in childhood education. Everyone at the daycare is CPR certified. The bus driver is amazing and I was shown her credentials and driving record when I first visited the facility. This made me feel more comfortable placing my son's safety in her hands. All of the staff is very energetic and genuinely happy to be at work! They have a huge playground; the children also enjoy arts, crafts, games, and sports. They even have a local theater group visit once a month to perform for the children. My son is so happy at this daycare.
Tips
When shopping for an after school daycare, make sure you check their credentials! Are the teachers CPR certified? If they are going to be transporting your child, is the bus driver someone with whom you feel comfortable? Does the bus have seatbelts? Bring your child with you so they can get a feel for the daycare. Also, ask what activities your child will be doing. Another important point to remember is the summer months- will you need full-time care during that time and does that facility offer it? Ask parents whose children attend an after school daycare what they think of their program- they will be more than happy to help you with your decision!
