Description of service
We were trying to do things on the cheap and wanted the event to be somewhat informal so we decided to have appetizers rather than a full course meal. There were fruit trays, vegetable trays, cheese trays, won tons, egg rolls, meatballs, assorted dips like spinich artichoke dip, and bruchetta. They were served buffet style and people could just get food and munch throughout the night. The cost of the appetizers was $13 per person and we figured on 300 guests. Taxes were about $300. The caterer arrived and set up the warmers and got everything ready. Everything was all set when the guests arrived and they could go ahead and start eating and mingling immediately. They left the appetizers up for about 3 hours total and then tore them down and cleaned everything up and left.
Review of Service
I was very happy with this service. Everything was done professionally and I didn't have to worry about something going wrong with the food. The food was tasty enough and people enjoyed the variety. My goals of keeping wedding costs down and lessening the formality of event were met and I was happy with the service overall. There was not an extra fee for set up or clean up with was also a plus. It might have been figured into the per plate cost but I still felt that $13 per plate was reasonable especially compared to what that price would have been if I did the full course meal. They also correctly figured on the right amount of food. I was a bit worried that we would run out but there was plenty of food left over. None of the guests went away hungry.
Tips
Make sure that you trust your caterer. I have heard some horror stories so make sure that you interview your caterer in person and if possible be sure that you taste test the food prior to the event so you know what you are getting.
