the Price of Dog Grooming at a Chain Pet Store

Went to a chain pet store and made an appointment to have my yellow lab groomed. I made the appointment for the following week in the morning. Cost quoted was $50.00. This would include bathing, clipping (very little) combing, anal sacs drained and toenails clipped. The time, they said would take about an hour. As I live far away, I said I would return in one hour.

I was very disappointed in the service. I returned a little over an hour later. My dog was still in the crate and they had not even started. I asked why and they said they had gotten some walk ins. I explained that I had made my appointment in advance and felt that my dog should have gone ahead of the walk ins. So I left for an hour and came back. This time my dog was in the crate but they had finished. When I got him out of the crate, he was scared. I looked at his nails and it was obvious they had cut his nails to the quick. He had bled some. He was clean, but very scared.

When making an appointment with a groomer, find out how long the groomers have been doing this. Make sure they are comfortable with large dogs and understand them. Also, if you do encounter problems, make sure the manager of the store is aware of this and contact the main office if it is a chain.
