Description of service
I had to have my boat repainted- I choose to have both the hull repainted and also the woodwork re-oiled as it is still in very good condition and I would like it to stay that way; it needs good care even in a humid environment in order to prevent repeated drying/cracking from variations in temperature and in humidity. Also with age the wood will change in nature and the oil minimizes any kinds of age or weather related stress.
In addition to the repainting, I had the boat sanded down completely; this was an extra service but I think worth the money because I did not merely want irregularities removed and a new coat of paint added.
There is an optional weatherproofing in addition to the boat weatherproofing available but I chose not to get it as I plan on simply having the boat repainted when it is needed.
Review of Service
The service was good- reasonable amount of time as I had planned on having it done through the fall, and did not plan on havin gthe turnaround time be very short. Price is reasonable from what I can tell.
I think it would ahve been less expensive to have it done at the end of the summer as they would have ample time to look at it and less in-season maintenance to do.
In all I was satisfied.
Tips
As always, check around for prices.
Best recs come from other recreational sailboat owners- and use name-dropping if it helps you get better service.
