Description of service
I went in for a simple check-up and was told I needed a new thermostat, new spark plugs and new water pump. I ended up spending 489.00. 200.00 in labor, 267.00 in parts and 22.00 tax.
Review of Service
The quality of service I received was outstanding. There was no charge for checking the engine over and all of the recommended repairs are essential repairs to keep the engine running at 100%. The service was fast and the boat was ready when I was told it would be. The only problem I had was the greasy foot prints inside the boat. The work was being done on the engine and being inside the boat was not necessary. They got to me on the parts but I knew the work was done properly and the labor was not over priced so it seemed to balance out. It was a good value.
Tips
The best advice I could give someone for having their boat serviced is to do some research of local boat repair shops. Ask other people with boats about their experiences and if they recommend someone. You have to be safe on the water and have an engine you can depend on. Ask to meet your mechanic and talk directly to him about your needs. Try a shop out and have them repair a little problem and see how the service is. Before I bought this boat I wish that I would have talked to a mechanic and found out how much the maintenance upkeep averages out per year. I may have bought a canoe.
