Had female cat spayed. $30 She got tested for feline leukemia $10 and got rabies shot. $5.
We contacted the local rescue group who specializes in cats. They assisted with getting the female, who had recently weaned a litter of kittens, in to the vet so that we could have her spayed so we did not have any more unwanted kittens. Some vets will not do the surgery until the kittens have been weaned longer then 1 week, to make sure that the mother is no longer producing milk. However, getting her in only one week after the kittens were no longer suckling, the mother was already back "in heat".
Review of Service
She is healing quicker then the other cats we have had "fixed". The price was very reasonable, some places charge $40 just for the spaying.
Having the leukemia test run on the mother, since she tested negative, the kittens will not need to be tested. So once the kittens are old enough to be spayed/ neutered, the price for them will only include the price of the surgery and the price of the shots.
Tips
See if there are any groups around that help with certain veterinary procedures. Some will help with shots only, others with spay/ neuter bills.
