Description of service
We went to the pet store earlier this month to get a ferret. They only had one eight week old boy. He was sneezing a bit at the store but looked all right otherwise. He seemed strong, active, had clear eyes, etc., so we bought him. He kept sneezing in the car on the way home. We brought him in the house, showed him his toys, and played with him a bit. He was still sneezing a lot.
So we called our local vet to ask if we should be concerned. They said that we should bring him in right away since any illnesses could get very serious very quickly in such a young animal, so we drove over.
After waiting about five minutes in the waiting room and five minutes in an examining room, we saw the vet. She looked him over, weighed him, took his temperature, and listened to his breathing before deciding he looked fine. She gave us an antibiotic to give him just to be on the safe side and told us to come back if he got worse or just didn't get better in the next few days. She also told us to come back in about 30 days for his shots.
I gave him the medicine twice a day, and after just a few days he wasn't sneezing anymore and has been doing fine. He has already grown a bit and has gotten even stronger. We have since found him a sister and plan on taking them both back to the vet soon for the shots.
Review of Service
I was pleased with the service at the vet. It was not crowded, and there was not a long wait. The vet didn't make us feel rushed, and she stayed with us to answer some questions after she examined our pet. The lady at the front desk even made a mark on the eye dropper so that I would not forget how much medicine to give him.
Tips
When shopping for a new vet, don't be afraid to call and ask for prices. A good vet will spend time talking to you and answering questions. He or she will also give your pet the medical care they need without throwing in extra stuff just to try to make money off you. Never be afraid to ask what your vet is doing and why when they are examining or running tests on your pet.
