Description of service
We retained a family law attorney for the purpose of handling our child custody case.
These fees included him representing us in court for all motions, hearings, and during the course of the trial.
These fees also included him filing on our behalf any motions we felt that were important to our case and arguing for those motions on our behalf. Those included but were not limited to drug testing, subpoenas, school records, and all paperwork and preparation of the documents needed.
Review of Service
Overall we feel like we got our moneys worth. We appreciated the encouragement that we got through out the process. We did feel at times like nothing was being done, but do understand that was not always our attorneys fault since there other people involved in the case.
Tips
If you are ever in this situation where you need to hire an attorney to represent you in a child custody case make sure the attorney has experience handling such cases. Just because they are a family law attorney doesn't mean they have experience in this area. Ask for examples of cases and the outcomes.
Keep a record of everything
Be prepared for any and all questions that may come out
Be prepared for postponements, delays, new motions, and disappointment before it is over. I think for us we would have pushed harder to keep from having so many delays from the other side or at least when orders were not followed pushed harder to see that it was at least upheld or followed out.
