the Price of Family Law Attorneys

My boyfriend was wanting to get a divorce from his current wife that he had been separated from for 7 years. He was also having problems with his wife not wanting him to see his kids. I went online and I found a lawyer that specialized in divorces and family law. They told us that they could get him a divorce for a fee of 845.00 plus he could keep an attorney on hand for 45.00 more a month. We signed up for this attorney thinking that he was going to help the situation.

The service that we got was poor. They had left out several important items that was needed to even file the papers. I had to call this office for 3 days to try to get the paperwork fixed so that he could file them. after the paperwork was completed and after we had spent that big chunk of money that could have been used for a decent attorney, we found out that he would have to represent himself in the court and that he also had to pay for the filing fees. When we had initially talked to them, they were taking care of it all. Come to find out, that was not the case. Then some of the stipulations that they had put in the divorce papers, his wife would have never went for and would have contested the divorce in a minute. we tried to call the attorney about a month later and it had stated that the number was no longer in service. Basically we had got ripped off from someone claiming to be a family attorney.

If you are in this type of situation, please do research on the company that you are wanting to handle your case. Some companies out there are false advertising and promising people the world when in reality they don't do anything. Do not believe everything that they tell you, get it in writing. Do not fall for the first thing that you see that seems like a good deal, more likely than not, its a rip-off.
