Description of service

I paid the COBRA plan price to continue my health insurance. I got exactly one option from one provider. It lasted 6-9 months then it just quit. I got to keep the same doctors, clinics, specialists, etc. Same coverage as before, same hospital availability, while it lasted.

Review of Service

It was a big jump in price / month just because I was no longer employed at a big company. I was no worse of a health risk to the insurer than I had been before; there was no upgrade in the insurance coverage I received, nothing changed except the price I had to pay. It didn't matter that I had contributed insurance premiums for many years when I was younger and healthier. What a total racket! What a rip off...

Tips

There's very little you can do, COBRA is effectively the only legal monopoly in America which means they can make you pay what they want.

Write your Congressman? complain to your Senator? maybe. Hope some President will get a backbone and make the big insurance companies stop screwing over ordinary working stiffs??

Tell them to take a hike instead of paying through the nose: BUT! Never get sick, Never have an accident, . . .
