Description of service
I have a 2005 desktop computer running Windows XP and it suddenly stopped booting up when it was turned on. I know a little bit about troubleshooting so I tried a couple things, but nothing worked so I found a local computer repair center and took the hard drive to them for review and repair. They were able to identify a corrupted file on the drive that kept the machine from starting, so they removed and reinstalled that file to correct the problem, and then they also checked out everything else to make sure that I would not have any additional problems related to the new file or other programs running on my computer. It took them about 2 hours to do the job at $85/hour.
Review of Service
I think they did a very good job and, even though it was probably a routine repair for them, it was important to me to get my computer working and returned to me quickly. They got it done in a few hours and the computer has run fine ever since then. They made me feel comfortable with their store by explaining the problem to me in an understandable way and giving me an accurate description of the work and the cost that would be involved to repair it. There wasn't anything that I was dissatisfied about, and the price was reasonable to me.
Tips
There are many people who do computer repairs, but my tip is to use a professional instead of trying to do it yourself or have a friend look at it. The cost of the service is worth paying compared to the frustration you might experience and the chance that you might make the problem worse. Once you find a reliable repair service, tell your friends because these types of businesses need customers to stay in business.
